In-house Testing

Design and Engineering Excellence

TATL’s design philosophy is rooted in precision and rigorous engineering discipline. Every transformer is crafted to meet global standards, deliver high efficiency, and ensure long operational life with minimal failure risk. With five decades of experience and more than 1,000 prototype designs, our engineering capability continues to set industry benchmarks.

TATL uses advanced FEM based design software for high quality transformer design conforming to IS & CBIP, IEC, BS, DIN and ANSI, supported by short circuit and impulse voltage capability validation through internationally acclaimed simulation software, along with 3D visualisations of manufacturing drawings for improved accuracy.

Our reliability record includes in FIRST ATTEMPT successfully conducted twelve number short circuit tests in CPRI India (a STL member), with transformers upto 160 MVA, 220 kV successfully clearing short circuit testing in the very first attempt, demonstrating strong design integrity and manufacturing precision.

TATL drives in-house technology development upto 400 kV class, backed by more than five decades of transformer design and engineering experience and over 1000 design prototypes, ensuring continuous enhancement of high voltage design capability.

Research and Development

Technical Associates Transformers Ltd. (TATL) drives engineering innovation through a dedicated R&D unit supported by a highly skilled design team. The group develops transformers across 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV ratings using fully computerised, proprietary software and advanced mechanical design tools. All designs undergo rigorous validation, including dynamic short circuit capability, impulse withstand performance, and noise reduction, with third-party testing at accredited laboratories such as CPRI. This international software-based design approach enables customised, reliable, and cost-efficient solutions. Guided by industry experts, TATL invests consistently in R&D, focusing on developing and commercialising technologies vital to future growth and the evolving power sector.
