TATL operates a robust dual-plant manufacturing infrastructure, with the Sitarganj facility serving as its primary hub for high-capacity and high-voltage transformer production. Purpose-built for EHV manufacturing, the Sitarganj plant is equipped to produce power and auto transformers up to 500 MVA, 400 kV, forming the backbone of TATL’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
Designed as a fully integrated, end-to-end facility, Sitarganj combines precision engineering, climate-controlled production zones, heavy-duty material handling, and NABL-accredited EHV testing capabilities. Within TATL’s dual-plant architecture, it plays a central role in delivering consistent quality and supporting a combined annual production capacity of 24,000 MVA, aligned with global performance and compliance benchmarks.

Manufacturing Facilities
TATL’s state-of-the-art transformer manufacturing facility in Sitarganj, Uttarakhand spans 12.5 acres with 23,000 sq m of covered area and a 20,000 MVA annual capacity, positioning it among India’s largest EHV transformer producers.
Dust-Controlled Production
Dust-free environment employing measures like air-conditioned winding shops, epoxy flooring in winding and assembly stations, and enclosed climate-controlled winding areas for EHV transformers.
Optimised Material Movement
Well-planned raw material movement reduces exposure to the environment, with captive facilities for manufacturing PICC ensuring high quality, reliability, and timely delivery.
High-Capacity Handling
Lifting crane capacity upto 300 MT suited for manufacturing EHV transformers upto 400 kV, supported by high-capacity assembly stations for core erection and main tank assembly.
Specialised Winding Infrastructure
Vertical winding machines with enclosed climate-controlled winding area for EHV transformers, supported by isostatic pressing arrangement for coil sizing to ensure accurate geometry and uniformity.
Core and Coil Processing
Dedicated stations for core erection, main tank assembly, and coil sizing enable consistent coil geometry and superior structural stability during manufacturing.
Controlled Assembly for EHV Units
Enclosed climate-controlled assembly station for EHV transformers maintains stable conditions for precise assembly and controlled exposure during all critical steps.
Comprehensive Material Testing
Fully functional material testing laboratory capable of testing inward raw material for high control on quality, complemented by a captive fully functional oil testing laboratory.
Advanced Processing and Drying
Vapour Phase Drying ovens for fast and optimum processing of CCAs, oil filling under vacuum through dedicated vacuum pumping system, and high capacity vacuum oil filter machines ensure insulation integrity.
Process Discipline and Digitalisation
Process control for limited exposure time during pre-tanking enhances reliability, while ERP implementation is underway to improve real-time oversight and overall operational efficiency.
- TESTING
Advanced Testing Facilities
TATL conducts a stringent, multi-stage testing process to ensure transformer reliability, safety, and optimal network performance across all manufacturing phases. Its EHV Laboratory is assessed and accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for testing up to 400 kV and 500 MVA in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017. NABL operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India (DPIIT), and is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI). Supported by full-fledged plant machinery and specialised high-voltage testing equipment suitable for transformers up to 400 kV and 500 MVA, TATL ensures every unit meets stringent national and international performance standards.

EHV Testing
The EHV Testing facility is NABL accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 170625:2017 and is capable of conducting in-house all Type, Special and Routine Tests (except for Short Circuit Test) in accordance with International Standards like IS 2026 & IEC 60076 for transformers upto 500 MVA, 400 kV.
